| The human eye does
not produce an ideal and perfect optical system, but rather contains
optical imaging errors, also known as optical aberrations.
In the “normal” LASIK procedure, the majority of these
imaging errors are corrected – the same as any eyeglasses would
– so that excellent vision without eyeglasses can be achieved.
In recent years, alternative technology has become available, where
the eye can be measured so precisely with a so-called aberrometer, that
a “custom-made” LASIK treatment can be calculated.
Therefore, this so-called wavefront or aberrometer-guided LASIK represents
a new development of the “normal” LASIK and is intended
to provide for even better vision, especially at dawn and dusk. Because
eye exams used for wavefront / aberrometer-guided LASIK are much more
involved, the wavefront / aberrometer-guided LASIK is more expensive
than the “normal” LASIK procedure.
During the appointment for your eye exam at one of the FreeVis
LASIK Centers, we will discuss which procedure is ideal for you.
