Award for Professor Michael Knorz
Readers of the international Journal "Cataract &
Refractive Surgery Today"
voted Michael Knorz, MD, one of the best 50 refractive surgeons worldwide
and a "Top 50 Opinion Leaders" for outstanding contribution
and leadership in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery.
In 1993, Professor Knorz introduced the LASIK procedure in Germany.
He founded the Freevis LASIK Mannheim in 1999 and serves as its medical
director. Since 2005, the Freevis LASIK Center Mannheim uses the Intralase
femtosecond laser to cut the corneal flap during the first step of LASIK,
making the procedure even safer and more predictable.
Besides LASIK, Professor Knorz and his team offer the wide spectrum
of refractive procedures, such as Epi-LASIK, phakic lens implants (including
multifocal lenses) and refractive lens exchange.
