LASIK: Lifestyle Benefits
Certainly everyone who wears glasses or contact lenses understands
the disadvantages. Naturally, if your poor vision requires you to wear
glasses all the time, you would consider any option to reduce the time
you spend with lenses. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get up
each morning and perform routine activities without having to search
for your glasses first? For many people that would be a big improvement
in their quality of life.
Of course, elective surgery is always a big decision. All surgeries
involve risk. The best way to decide if the surgical procedure is right
for you is to compare the risks, and benefits specifically for you.
For example, if you are a physically active individual who regularly
participates in vigorous exercise, your glasses or contacts are probably
a real burden for you. Consider how often your glasses or contacts have
prevented or restricted your participation, or just made active participation
less enjoyable. This example although simple, can be applied to many
situations, such as individuals who’s work involves strenuous
or physical activity. Unquestionably, the inconveniences experienced
by glasses or lens wearers, also apply to those who do particularly
detailed work as well. These are clear examples however, and perhaps
you’re simply interested in the cosmetic improvement, or just
not having to remember to have glasses or lenses with you all the time.
These are valid reasons to consider surgery as well. Many people just
find wearing glasses annoying, and that is a legitimate complaint. Contact
lens wearers, have their own special inconveniences of care and storage.
If you wear contacts you know what a nuisance a lost lens can be. It
can spoil a vacation, or complicate a business trip.
So, if you are considering Lasik, the benefit is, that you will no
longer need glasses or lenses.
