About Us
The FreeVis LASIK Center at the University Eye Clinic Mannheim has offered eye laser surgery since 1993. Today, we offer the entire spectrum of refractive surgery from cases of short or distant vision problems to complex refractive errors. Professor Michael Knorz, MD is medical director and leader of our team of highlyspecialized ophthalmic surgeons. He introduced the LASIK procedure to Germany and founded the FreeVis LASIK Center Group.
Our LASIK Center has been LASIK-TÜV certified since 1996.

High Honors for Professor Michael Knorz, MD
Professor Michael Knorz, MD has been honored as one of the recipients of the 2009 Secretariat Awards of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
He has also been elected as the 2010/2011 president
of the
Organization of German Specialty Clinics for Eye Laser and Refractive Surgery (VSDAR) and the 2010/2011 president of the International Intraocular Implant Club (IIIC).
iLASIK = Individual Laser Vision Correction
Since 2006, we have offered individual or iLASIK.
Combining the femtosecond laser flap creation (Femto-LASIK) with wavefront-guided ablation, iLASIK allows the best possible correction of nearsightedness and farsightedness with or without astigmatism.
Acrysof Cachet Phakic Lens
This special lens is used to correct nearsightedness from -6 to -16 dpt. At our FreeVis Center, we have been implanting the Acrysof Cachet phakic lens for 10 years.

The LASIK Center of the University Clinic Manheim is located directly at the Neckar River and is easily accessible by either public transportation or by car.
By car:
Autobahn A6: Use exit "Mannheim - Mitte", turn onto A656 towards Mannheim. Take the first exit "Mannheim - Freudenheim" and remain on this highway until it ends (highway will pass over the Neckar River). At the traffic light, take a left onto Freudenheimer Straße. After approx. 1 km, make a left into the parking garage of the Clinic Mannheim. The FreeVis LASIK Center of the University Clinic Mannheim is located in House 3 on the second floor.
