In 1995, he became the Co-founding chairman
of the German Committee of Refractive Surgery (KRC), a joint committee
of the German Ophtalmological Society (DOG) and the Professional
Association of German Ophthalmologists (BVA), which is responsible
for education and quality control in refractive surgery in Germany.
He still serves as a secretary of the KRC today. |

He was also co-founder of the global
refractive surgery educational program (GLORY), initiated by the
International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), and served as
a board member of ISRS from 1999 to 2001. |
